“Burnout” refers to exhaustion of physical/emotional/mental strength or motivation usually as a result of prolonged stress. I came across a helpful article that offered advice on how to undo the effects of Burnout with easily attainable examples. Here are my key takeaways and they’re especially applicable if switching jobs or taking a long vacation is not an option right now.
Short & Sweet Reminders
Do something unusual
Break routine. A stroll outside in the middle of the workday can work wonders. I’ve done this — do not underestimate the power of a 15-minute breather break alone.
Take care of yourself
Remember that little exercise is better than no exercise at all. Sleep earlier. An immediate diet change is not necessary but try harder to stick to healthier food options.
Practice Patience
Know that change will not happen overnight.
On a personal note, make sure you celebrate progress. You don’t need balloons and a cake, but stopping to recognize a milestone though tiny, helps boost motivation. And with that comes inspiration and a smile.
